Located in the pretty village of Marhamchurch, the Old Bakery Annex sits just along the road from the Bullers Arms, an historic, local hostelry serving ‘Casque Mark’ beers and excellent food as well as being host to many ‘Bude Jazz Week’ performances. The annex itself is part of a traditional Cornish Cottage (formerly a bakery, of course) and has been thoughtfully modernised to create a delightful holiday let. It has a roomy double bedroom, a double sofa/bed in the lounge. The kitchen is on the lower level, along with the a shower room, and the double bedroom with its own, large, en suite spa bathroom. A short drive, or a tranquil walk along the canal, will take you right into the centre of Bude and to its beaches!
Marhamchurch is just over a mile from Bude, and is a peaceful village just brimming with character! There’s a lovely , friendly pub, with its own restaurant and ‘Casque Mark’, almost on the doorstep, and the Bude canal, with all it’s history, provides a picturesque walk (or cycle) all the way into Bude, passing tempting tea gardens serving the most scrumptious Cornish Cream Teas, and winding through Bude Marshes Nature Reserve.
The Old Bakery holiday let has been thoughtfully prepared as your holiday let. There is a spacious double bedroom which has its own large en suite with a Jacuzzi spa bath. Should your party need more sleeping space, steps lead up to the lounge, where there’s a sofa bed, and there is also a separate shower room/WC. The lounge has two comfy leather sofas, a TV and video. The kitchen is well laid out and well equipped, with an electric fan oven/hob and extractor, a fridge, microwave, toaster and kettle. It has a slate tiled floor, marbled worktops and a separate dining area with a high vaulted ceiling.
Patio doors open onto the shared garden, which is a absolute delight with exotic and familiar planting, a lawn and a stone-walled patio with garden furniture and a sun canopy. The lawned garden can also be accessed from the lounge, through a lean-to glasshouse, with stone steps linking it to the patio.
This holiday cottage, whilst offering peace and quiet in the midst of beautiful local countryside, also provides easy access to a wide range of beaches (at Bude and Widemouth Bay), and is a great base for walking & cycling, and for exploring North Cornwall & beyond, with very easy access to Hartland, Boscastle, Tintagel, the Eden Project and more.
