The Tackbear Estate has a fascinating history dating from the 11th century and probably earlier still. The Domesday Survey records that the owner of the estate at that time was a Saxon going by the name of Aluric, and its illustrious owners have included twelve monarchs, earls and duchesses, and it is said that the Gilberts rebuilt it in honour of Queen Elizabeth I. The Manor House is indeed an extraordinarily historical building. The Smithy sits some 200m from the house in its own garden, tree lined to the western boundary and with impressive countryside views over the lake.
The accommodation consists of a large, open plan lounge with kitchen and diner, a sumptuous double bedroom and a beautifully appointed shower room with a large, contemporary shower suite. Outside there are acres of gardens, woodland, walks, meadows and a lake stocked with large carp. An extensive patio adjoins the cottage with plenty of space for barbecues and wining and dining under the stars!
